Greetings from Veihingen. Tomorrow we'll be off for Berlin, where we hope to be able to call you more regularly than out of Veihingen. Richey is playing his last chess game with Werner.Got to go and finish the suitcase packing and washing of bedsheets etc.

Erfurt on the Gera, a stunningly beautiful old merchant town which at one time was extremely wealthy (1350-1800), but went down-hill after losing its monopoly on "blue dye" (from a locally harvested plant called "WEID") when cheap indigo began getting imported to Europe from America (ca 1800).
